About Lokananda

Lokananda means the bliss of a place as well as the bliss of the world.

Our country retreat centre was built in the 1870s and originally served the thriving community of Point Pass. Known as the Butter Factory, Lokananda is situated in rolling hills on two acres of contemplative gardens and fruit trees. The original stone buildings are being lovingly restored to serve individuals and small groups as shared and individual accommodation, cooking, dining and contemplation. The large Meditation/Yoga Hall is the centre of program activities.

You are invited to join Swami Dayananda and Ma Jan Chaitanya for programs, retreats, special events and other occasions to dedicate yourself to living in awareness. The full schedule of activities will re-commence in March.

Lokananda is also available for small groups running their own retreats. Accommodation for up to 16. We will welcome Yoga Spirit Studios for their teacher training retreat in May.

Meditation is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. With meditation you develop awareness and learn to calm an agitated mind. You explore the inner world of thoughts and feelings and increase your emotional abilities. Meditation simply gives you the skills to flow with everyday life.

The best way to learn to meditate is in an environment specifically designed for meditation. The workshop is conducted by Swami Dayananda, author of 108 Meditations and a regular contributor to Australian Yoga Life magazine and Adelaide’s Inner Self journal. Topics include:
• Classical methods of meditation, such as focusing on the breath and mantra repetition
• Guided meditations
• The nature of the mind
• Establishing a meditation practice
• Breakthroughs for deeper meditation

Overnight accommodation for both retreats is limited.
