Shiva Yoga draws on ancient yogic traditions, bringing the wisdom of
the
inner Self into every aspect of life. It enlivens relationships, work,
health and spirituality. Among the main practices are meditation and
self-inquiry. Through these practices we learn to directly connect with
our own higher
Consciousness, which is free, wise and powerful. This contact with the
divine energy of our inner Self opens us to self-acceptance,
contentment and joy.
Swami Shankarananda (Swamiji) is the author of the Australian classic
on meditation, Happy for No Good Reason, Consciousness Is Everything:
The Yoga of Kashmir Shaivism and other books on the philosophy and
practice of yoga. His groundbreaking work on
Self-inquiry (and his new book, Self-Inquiry: Using Your Awareness to
Unblock Your Life) help meditators cut through emotional blocks,
improve
communication skills and learn to develop clear and insightful
relationships with other people as well as with the divine inner Self.
Through his guru, Baba Muktananda, Swamiji is empowered to impart the
Shaktipat initiation. He is the director of the Shiva Ashram in Mt
Eliza, near Melbourne, amidst a thriving and vibrant spiritual
community.
Swami Dayananda, the Director of the Adelaide Shiva Yoga Meditation Centre, was initiated into yoga
and meditation in the late ’70s by the late siddha master, Baba
Muktananda Paramahamsa. She later continued her training under the
guidance of Swami Shankarananda. Dayananda is a well-known speaker and writer on
yoga and meditation.
Among the many great beings, we celebrate the teachings of Bhagawan
Nityananda, Swami Muktananda, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj,
Anandamayi Ma, G.I Gurdjieff and revered yogis such as Abhinavagupta,
Patanjali, the Buddha, and the sages of the ancient scriptures. Their
work is immensely applicable in today's fast-paced and often confusing
arenas.
We draw on the practices and disciplines of meditation, yoga,
Self-inquiry, reflection and satsang, or the company of others who
recognize the power and resonance of spiritual teachings.
You are welcome to come to our programs and join us in investigating the fullness within.
